Kukkiwon has prepared the Enforcement Guideline for Special Promotion Test which temporarily allows screening of Taekowndo Poom/Dan promotion test for Taekwondo dojangs that are going through difficult times due to the new coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19).

On Monday 20 April, Kukkiwon approved the \'Enforcement Guideline for Special Promotion Test in response to COVID-19’ based on a written declaration derived from the ‘6th Temporary Board of Directors, 2020’.

This guideline is a temporary measure to response to the situation brought on by COVID-19 that makes it impossible to hold acollective screening by the existing group reappointed for screening.

The main idea of the guideline is that while 1~4 Poom and 1~5 Dan tests are to be held at Taekwondo dojangs, the person designated by the group reappointed for screening records the tests. The judges will evaluate the tests based on the recorded video.

Video recording shall take place once only and under no circumstances, screening processes can be re-recorded.

Among the standard subjects for screenings, Gyeorugi (Sparring) requires two people to spar against each other. Under the Special Promotion Test, Gyeorugi has been replaced with a single person demonstrating Bal-chagi (Kick) and Ditgi (Stepping) for at least 30 seconds to prevent contact between people.

Application methods remain unaffected. However, the screening date will be the one applied to Kukkiwon by the group reappointed for screening.

The maximum number of people who can take part in each screening is three. The Taekwondo dojang, the site for screening, should secure enough space for video recording and must thoroughly comply with the government’s guideline for the preventive measures against epidemics.

Also, the guideline has specified the duties and responsibilities of groups appointed for screening and others reappointed for screeing to ensure fairness and impartiality of the screening.

Kukkiwon has been devoted to support Taekwondo dojangs that are going through a crisis due to COVID-19, including fundraising and establishing guidelines.

The Enforcement Guideline for Special Promotion Test in Response toCOVID-19, can be found at the Information Section on Kukkiwon’s website (www.kukkiwon.or.kr).
